Dress round-up

Although my kids still have 2 more weeks of school, for me the summer has begun!  It has been a full month and a half of partying so far.  Celebrating the end of the school year...then my bosses retirement and my subsequent promotion to director, and then most recently, my husbands graduation from grad school. It has been a busy but fun time!  Thought I would share some of my outfits from those events...
First up - retirement party dress. This was a backyard luncheon type deal. I have this dress from Athleta that I bought last summer and had only worn once. It is purple, which just happens to be the guest of honor's favorite color, so I had the perfect opportunity to wear it. It is knit and pretty form fitting but has very flattering ruching on the sides and a built in bra.  (I actually also wear a strapless bra with it.)  It also has a two layer wrap front which is really cute.  This exact dress seems to be no longer available but I will link some similar styles...here and here. (Edited to say - the dress is called the Seeker Dress and it IS available and it's on sale - however in a different color and very few sizes left!)

The tassle necklace I am wearing with the dress is from LOFT and have been wearing on repeat with just about everything lately! Currently on sale online they are having an accessory sale buy one get one 50% off!

For my husbands graduation party I wore this navy lace dress that I had worn only one other time (Christmas eve).  It was semi-formal event and looked great with his navy suit.  Both the dress and necklace are from LOFT.  It is quite form fitting as well but has a little bit of stretch to it so pretty forgiving. (I am wearing a regular size 4 so the length is more midi on me.) It is no longer available but will link something similar here and here and here.

Final dress shown here is what I wore to my husbands graduation ceremony. It was an outdoor event under a large tent. I love the brand Mudpie and have about 3 dresses and a few swim cover-ups in this brand.

Ragnar Richmond Recap!

First Ragnar Trail relay is in the books and boy, was it an adventure!  Notice I said, "first"...I had originally thought I was "one and done" with these things (as I am with the full marathon) however, I think I could enjoy another go of one. Definitely a fan of the trail version and not interested in a road Ragnar though (the thought of sleeping in a van horrifies me more than camping!).  I think I need to wait til 2019 (or even 2020 ) though - not ready to train for another in 2018!  Gotta let the paint dry on this one...So, here's a detailed recap of our adventure: Proof that I CAN camp! Thursday 3pm-ish : 4 of us drove down to Richmond with all of the camping gear in order to set up our site and get checked in.  This was a great plan because we were able to scout out a site and set up before the rest of the team arrived the following morning. Our start time was one of the earlier times on Friday (10am) so we didn't want to be worried about s

Light me up!

Good morning and welcome to winter in northern VA.  We are on our 3rd snow day here (as in school's cancelled) and I am trying to make the best of it.  I did a long yoga practice (as my IT band is raging today and needed to stretch badly), ran errands this morning (before the so-called icy rain is supposed to arrive) and put the boys to work with homework and vacuuming.  Now to update the Blog and get some research done on the Ragnar race.  I hope to get in our times (we are not fast!) and figure the whole rotation out. I really need the help of someone who has done this before (preferably a former captain) so that I can have us well-prepared. Hit me up if you can help! For Christmas I asked for (and recieved!) lots of cool running gear.  I have yet to use the three types of lights I got.  The Nathan Headlamp is on sale at Rei.  I did take it out of the box and charge it (as it does not come charged but is a rechargable device simlar to my Garmin Vivofit watch).  I put it on and

Stop Wishing and Start Working!

This past month has been really incredible for me!  I have gained a new perspective on my life through helping others as a fitness coach in addition to my job as director at a preschool.  Although I'm still figuring out the proper balance between the two it has really been a seamless transition into coaching while keeping the rest of my life together.  I think it's because the "business" of coaching is not like a job to me. I enjoy being fit and am proof of the results so have found it's so fun to share that with others to get them started on their own journey. Singing with the preschoolers is one of the highlights of my week as director ! Never thought I would have a 6 pack!! On a fitness level, I am almost done with my 8 week program of LIIFT4 and at the end of week 7 I am 3 lbs down and have more muscle tone (especially in my upper body!) than ever before!  This makes me down a total of 11lbs since the beginning of summer when I started the 80
